New Year's Resolution Revisited

So, it's true... this resolution to create new things each month, post about them and then add them to my Etsy shop has fallen by the wayside! But now is the time to turn it around! I can say that I've been very busy creating a new studio to work in, plus lots of projects that have taken my time! Thus, I decided to post pictures of some of these projects, and of course the new studio set up. Enjoy!

These are some delicious cupcakes I made for my co-teacher for her baby shower. She asked for Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes with purple buttercream frosting and purple cupcakes with chocolate buttercream frosting. Just happened to find new baby decorations at the local baking store around here!

I participated in a Artist Trading Card Swap focusing on coffee! I love how these turned out!

Along with cupcakes my co-teacher asked if I could create some artwork for her nursery. I, of course, jumped on that! Here we decided on a theme of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". I thought a dimensional tray would look good on the nursery wall.

This turned into an epic piece of artwork for the nursery. My co-teacher had this idea for a huge swirly tree... I thought I can do that in paper! So, we got a 22in x 28in frame that matched the nursery furniture and went from there! I patchworked the background, and went on to patchwork the rest of the entire scene. I definitely will be making some copies of this in the future!!!

The last pieces created were decoupaged stars. My co-teacher and I had fun walking all over the store trying to decide on the papers that would work the best together with the other artwork. I ended up adding the bling in the middle of the stars for just a little pizazz!

We recently had a wedding, and I decided to play around with a shadow box frame. I love making things dimensional!

And last, but not least we have the studio revamping project!

Here is what the studio used to look like. I had a table piled with everything, dressers filled with everything else... not enough room to work... It was obvious I needed to do something!
The first step was to paint the room. It was in dire need of a fresh coat!

And I took the opportunity to create an accent wall!!!

Through this process I realized I would not just "find" the type of desk that I wanted in the studio. So, my husband helped me build the desks from scratch, which turned into an interesting project we were not expecting! But he did a fantastic job working through it all to help create one 6ft desk, and one 8ft desk; together they make up an 8ft L-shaped working area.

Here is what the studio looks like now!
Please don't mind the mess. I have been unbelievably busy lately... and you can tell cause I tend to create piles of things that need to get done, and then I don't get everything put away. But, from this shot you can see the two work areas made from the 6ft desk piece. Also, I put in some wall shelving which has helped with the storage situation I was facing before.

Here is the 8ft desk with one huge work space (which has become my favorite spot) in front of the window!

Against this far wall I, at the last minute, decided to put in more wall shelving, and boy am I glad I did!!! I absolutely love it!!! Now, if only my schedule would calm down a bit so I could get through all my projects and clean the place up a little... maybe someday! At least now I'm glad I got things to do!!!

So, tell me... What do you think?!
